Public Art Agency Sweden designs memorial for tsunami victims

26 october 2015

The National Property Board Sweden has been commissioned by the government to design a memorial for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in south-east Asia, in close partnership with the Public Art Agency Sweden and in consultation with Kungliga Djurgårdens Förvaltning. The Public Art Agency Sweden will manage the part relating to artistic design.

“We recently launched the collaboration and are currently formulating a process that will ensure both artistic quality and consideration for those who were affected by the tragedy,” says Lotta Mossum, project manager at the National Public Art Council

The purpose of the memorial is to honour the memory of those who died in the tsunami, and to create a beautiful and dignified communal place for survivors, next of kin, friends and family. The memorial will be built near Blockhusudden on south Djurgården in Stockholm.
