Organization

The National Public Art Council is a government body responsible to the Ministry of Culture. It has a fulltime staff, and temporary staff, project managers and art consultants on special contracts.

Secretariat

The secretariat is responsible for administering the operations of the National Public Art Council under the guidance of the Director.

The secretariat has divisions responsible for finance and accounts, project coordination, supervision together with registration and storage, and publicity including press and media contacts, education, public events and the website.

Within the framework of the Access Project, the National Public Art Council has also worked on making an inventory of art commissioned for specific buildings during the period 1937-2005. This work has been undertaken by a conservator and an administrator.

Project Managers

Project managers are contracted for a fixed period of from four to six years. Most of them are artists though there have also been architects and art historians.

The National Public Art Council also makes use of consultants for other commissions such as producing collections of art for government bodies including government offices and embassies abroad.

Since 2008 there has been an Advisory Committee [Insynsråd] of the National Public Art Council.

Advisory Committee (Insynsråd)

Annika Ekdahl, Artist
Magdalena Malm, Curator
Mie Svennberg, Architectural Consultant
Svante Torell, Engineer and Marketing Director

With the new regulations for the administration of government authorities that came into force on 1 January 2008, the boards of various bodies in the cultural sector have been replaced by advisory committees.

The aim of this reform is to reduce detailed control of the organizations and to clarify responsibility for decisions pertaining thereto.
